چکیده

Use of wireless sensor technology has increased rapidly in recent years, with many varied applications. In the same timeframe the ubiquitous cell phone has evolved from a simple voice communication device; smart phone technology has enabled consumers to have mobile computing power that rivals the capabilities of desktop computers in the not too distant past. When one takes into consideration the widespread availability of internet connectivity that cell phone networks provide, juxtaposition of wireless sensor technology and cell phone technology is a natural progression. This paper consists of designing and implementing a novel Android application (NodeDroid) that integrates with our existing secure wireless sensor network and addresses the issues encountered in joining two disparate software systems.

A Family-Based Framework for Supporting Quality Assurance of Biomedical Ontologies in BioPortal

BioPortal contains over 300 ontologies, for which quality assurance (QA) is critical. Abstraction networks (ANs), compact summarizations of ontology structure and content, have been used in such QA efforts, typically in a "one-off" manner for a single ontology. Ontologies can be characterized-independently of knowledge-content focus-from a structural standpoint leading to the formulation of ont...

Deriving an Abstraction Network to Support Quality Assurance in OCRe

An abstraction network is an auxiliary network of nodes and links that provides a compact, high-level view of an ontology. Such a view lends support to ontology orientation, comprehension, and quality-assurance efforts. A methodology is presented for deriving a kind of abstraction network, called a partial-area taxonomy, for the Ontology of Clinical Research (OCRe). OCRe was selected as a repre...

Using the RxNorm Web Services API for Quality Assurance Purposes

Auditing large, rapidly evolving terminological systems is still a challenge. In the case of RxNorm, a standardized nomenclature for clinical drugs, we argue that quality assurance processes can benefit from the recently released application programming interface (API) provided by RxNav. We demonstrate the usefulness of the API by performing a systematic comparison of alternative paths in the R...
